Leaving Paris and heading back to New York

Today, we didn’t have to get up early. The little Carrefour market near our Holiday Inn opened at 8:30 this morning. It was closed yesterday due to New Year’s day. Mr. Adventurer went and bought breakfast and lunch for at the airport. We were heading home today. It’s an eight hour long plane ride. Before we left the hotel, we went to the rooftop to take last few views of Paris. It’s raining when we left the Holiday Inn. We … Continue reading >>

Notre Dame, Luxor Obelisk, Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, Les Invalides, La Madeleine, Place Vendôme, and The Louvre

After eating French pastries as breakfast, we were ready to go out for another day of sightseeing. We walked to Notre Dame Big Bus stop which was 5 minutes away. We took some pictures and hopped on the red line Big Bus. We were the only tourists again around 10 am and since the day was so cold with light snow the bus wasn’t even “open top”. We rode the bus and had some good sightseeings. The Arc de Triomphe didn’t … Continue reading >>

The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Institut de France, Musée d’Orsay, Assemblee Nationale, Alexandre III bridge, Opera House, Holiday Inn, and Léon

We attempted to get up at 8 am and catch the first classic red Big Bus for sightseeing. We checked out of Hotel Du Louvre and stored our luggage with them for free. We were ready for a day of sightseeing. We walked around Louvre to the bus stop. It was cold and not many people were out and about. The bus came and it was empty. We were the only tourists on the bus for the most part. I … Continue reading >>

British Museum, Eurostar to Paris, Hotel Du Louvre, and Le Thermidor

We had our last free English breakfast in our hotel. I tried Cafe Au Lait first. It’s half milk and half coffee coming out together in two different pipes. Then I tried Chocolatte. The machine had milk and chocolate alternating from the same pipe. Sugar was pre-added. I had tried five different drinks in three mornings. That’s the most variety I had in any hotel. The weather was so nice that we had beautiful sunshine and blue skies for the past two … Continue reading >>

Big Bus, Big Ben, Admiralty Arch, Nelson’s Column, St. Paul’s Cathedral, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and Thames River Cruise

We got up early again to have our free English breakfast. I had a cup of Cappuccino. The machine first filled my cup with 3/4 of milk, then added coffee to it. After that, I tried a cup of Espresso, which was very bitter and only filled 1/4 of my cup. I ate a lot for breakfast because I knew that we probably wouldn’t eat lunch on time. Adventurer Jr. had a fever last night, he stayed at the hotel to … Continue reading >>

Big Bus, Marble Arch, Hyde Park, Stonehenge, and Fish and Chips

We got up at 8 am because we had a full day planned. We walked down to the basement where dinning room was located. The free breakfast provided by our hotel was very nice. They had a machine that you could choose what kind of coffee you wanted. I had Mocha. They also had bread, croissant, boiled red skinned eggs, ham, salami, two types of cheese, cereal, yogurt, sliced tomato, apple, banana, grapefruit, apple juice, milk, and orange juice. It’s quite … Continue reading >>

Ma‘as-sālama Morocco, Hello England

We were leaving Morocco today. We rose at 8 am and planned to take a shower but people were in there whenever we checked. We lost interests to the same breakfast we had for the past several mornings, and couldn’t finish most of it. I was concerned with the smell of the purse I bought at the Souks, I brought it down to the Riad people to see if I was mocked with bad product. They told me it’s genuine good … Continue reading >>

Atlas Mountains, Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou, Kasbah de Taourirt, and Jamaa el Fna

Today we all rose early for our day trip. But there was somebody else in the little bathroom on our level. So we had to wait. Then we ate our breakfast in a rush. A driver from our tour company came to pick us up while we were still eating our breakfast. We got in his van. There were people in there already. He picked someone else up en route to the tour company. Then everyone had to get off … Continue reading >>

Riad, Palais El Baddi, Bab Agnaou, Souks, and Jamaa el Fna

I didn’t have a good sleep again, but I did get settled a little better than last night. I gradually adjusted to the new environment. When the first announcer’s voice woke me up, I couldn’t wait to take a shower because I hadn’t taken a shower since I left home. This Riad had three bathrooms, one on each level. The one on the third floor had a simple shower head by the toilet. The one on the second floor was … Continue reading >>
