I did basic leg blocks, middle blocks, figure eight, and butterfly. I’m a little rusty since I haven’t touched a staff for a while. I also worked on leg block with front stance twice each side while moving forward, and leg blocks with back stance twice each side while moving backward. Last, I reviewed the first half of the staff form.
Today, I practiced the basics of escrima staff. I practiced head strikes, body strikes, and leg strikes, as well as the blocks for each one. An important tip is that every block is a strike in itself. Also, when striking, aim at your opponent, not the weapon. Moving around can also increase the difficulty.
